When you mix kaoline, feldspar, quartz, optionally aluminium oxide with water according
accurate prescriptions, and dry them up to the required level of humidity, you will obtain
a material showing excellent shaping properties. A product made from this material should
be dried on and then fired in an oven under the specific conditions. Many chemical and
physically chemical reactions take place in the course of firing process. Resulting
material shows remarkable mechanical, chemical and electric properties.
This is a brief description of manufacturing of ceramics. A tradition of this technology
dated back to the primeval times. And we are accompanied with the products of this
technology life-long. This technology finds its application in the products of everyday
use, as well as in highly sophisticated branches, such as medicine, air-craft and space
technology, power industry, car-making industry and advanced engineering.
Elektroporcelán Louny a.s. is engaged in a wide scale of application of ceramic
processes. The key point can be seen in production of porcelain insulators, but also in
that of products made from special ceramic materials, for which extremely high abrasion
resistance and mechanical and thermal endurance are typical.
